Start of the week-Needing comments

March 9, 2015.  Today started with AAR.  E of course plays around but eventually gets down to work.  He even mastered a word is.  Next he watched Signing Time.  W watched Signing Time with E and then went to do is AAR.  W also mastered a word but I can't remember which one it is right now.  They both got a pixi stick.  W wanted to do the next subject which was Math.  W is good with mental addition better than me.  I still have a tendency to do the count on fingers method.  W had no problems doing his nine facts in his head.  Proud Mama moment.....although it really is RightStart that deserves the credit.  Next up E.  Well I didn't realize what hassel math would be today.  AAR and Math equal light in eyes.  Well AAR was easy enough to fix but math is a little more difficult.  So after some hassle we agreed he could go in his room and set up but he wasn't able to do it like he wanted.  Not enough room.  I set him up with no light (so to speak) and gave him the worksheet and the abacus.  I leave for a moment and come back.  He wants me in there.  So I stay and all I hear is more whining.  He now wants me to write the answer.  He tells me what it is and I write it.  After leaving and checking on him (found out he took a little nap) I gave in.  I wrote whatever answer he told me.  He ended up getting 2 wrong.  He claims writing is to hard.  I tell him then he needs practice.  If anyone has any ideas please leave a comment.  Thanks.  Also  W has finished up AAS (still working on sounds o, i, u, and y).   W is now working on handwriting words with letters q and r.  So far so good. M and M's and half a donut for final reward.  E worked on sounds o, i, u, and y. Next up was handwriting.  We compromised.  Instead of one long word one time and one short word 2x we he did one long word one time and I wrote the word dog and he wrote it.  It might be time to practice writing numbers maybe trying to remember them from memory is hard.  Also might do some type of handstrenghtening exercises although not sure what.
