January 19, 2016. Today W started with Handwriting pgs. 42 (letter y)-44(starts j). Next up was reading. He finished "The Nap" read pgs. 38-41. break time. I had W do mathseeds lesson 45 on map 9.
E started with Handwriting cursive pg. 10. He wrote one time the words: dad, cad, add. Needs some work on connecting the letters. Next up was one page reading "Fun at the Pond" page 19. break time. To finish up I had him do mathseeds. He made an 80% on quiz 11 and was able to move to map 12.
Jan. 20, 2016. Today was evaluation day. Both kids are progressing according to their level.
The rest of the week was a bit of a hit/miss with school. Daddy was off on Thursday. We did more unschool approach and only covered a bit of math and handwriting with it according to the child that was helping. When W helped organize things he wrote letters on a sticky note. When E wanted something he added to get it.
Next week is school week and bday for W.
To let Friends, Family, and others know how our homeschooling is going. To keep everyone updated as to the programs we use, how we like them, and the progress that the kids are making.

Thursday Jan. 14, 216. W started with HWT book yellow (my printing book) pgs. 39-41 rest of l and then K. We had fun made a game out of it. He loves coloring the drawings in the book. Next up was AAR continue reading "The Nap". W read 4 pgs. 34-37. He definitely knows the words of the log. No hesitation and no problems reading it at all. Break time. Last we finished lesson 57 on FLL aricles and capitaliztion.
E started with HWT book orange (cursive) he did one line d pg. 9. Next we finished lesson 57 on FLL aricles and capitaliztion. Break time.
One thing that we started last week that I will not write about constantly is Calendar time. The kids switch on and off as to who does the calendar. We go over the month, what today is, tomorrow is, yesterday was, season, and the weather. We also chart the weather and after a month will transition the chart into bar and pie charts.
Another thing that is regular in the house is watching shows like wild kratts and octonauts. They learn a lot of animal science that way.
Friday was my birthday so we watched movies and did no school.

Starting off right
January 6, 2016. I woke up not to well today. Headache so it took awhile to get into the swing of things and then the boys were playing so nicely. We finally started school. Today only accomplished 2 subjects: Math and reading.
W-we went over greater than and less than and then we went over place values: 245, 17, 426 for instance. 245 which number is in the tens spot, ect. for each number. We will review this again. I think he has the greater than/less than symbols down. Last we did AAR started lesson 34. We reviewed 10 green cards: will have fun mastered here soon. Then started the story of "Fun at the Pond" in the Cobweb the cat book Level 1 vol. 3. He read 4 pages pgs.10-13.
E-we went over place value using a white board and dimes and pennies. E is having problems knowing which is the tens spot and which is the ones spot and what to compare so I though using manipulatives might help. I made a chart and using the dimes and pennies I made up numbers like: pennies equal ones and dimes equal 10 so if we have the number 42 (we had 4 dimes and 2 pennies set out) where does the 2 go and where does the 4 go. We did several of these. He started to get the hang of it. We then went on to greater than/less than. He did well with 12 15. He knew 15 was greater and he picked the correct symbol. He did okay with 12 22. He knew that 12 was less than but he picked the wrong symbol. I then showed him how we point to the smaller number while eating the bigger number, which helped in picking the correct symbol. He still needed work on other numbers like 12 31. He first picked 31 but because the number because 3 is bigger than 1. We then brought out the money. He then picked out 12 because 2 is bigger than 1. I asked which unit is bigger the dimes or pennies. He said dimes. I said yes. We always start comparing the bigger unit first. So then he was able to do it properly. We also compared numbers like 33 and 31 with money so he could see what to do when the bigger number was the same and numbers like 43 and 33 so he could see why we pick the bigger unit first. Next we moved onto AAR. We went over 10 green cards and then started the story of "Fun at the Pond" in the Cobweb the cat book Level 1 vol. 3. He read 2 pages pgs.10-11.
January 7, 2016. Today we did AAR, math, and FLL.
W started with reading. We went over 10 green cards today-non mastered. Then we started where we left off on "Fun at the Pond". W wants to be done with the story on Friday so he chose to read 6 pages today. He read pages. 14-19. He then took a break. Next we did math. We went over place value. I had written several numbers from 1 digit to 3 digits. I then asked him to cross out the number in a certain place, ex. 435 what number is in the hundreds spot. He has hundreds down pat. Needs a little more work on ones and tens as he confuses them sometimes. Think for now we will move on (maybe tomorrow I will add thousands spot). Last we did Lesson 56 on FLL level 2. It dealt with articles. He needs work on vowels. Once he has a e i o u down as vowels. I think he will have a and an down on when to use them (at least in writing).
E started with math. We went over which 2 digit number is bigger or smaller. We also used the < > symbols. He has the symbols down. For the most part he now knows which 2 digit number is bigger or smaller. Had some problems with 82 vs 28 but once we went over which spot to look at he was able to get it. Next we went onto reading 10 green cards-non mastered. He then wanted a small break. After break he started where he left off on "Fun at the Pond" and read 2 more pages. He read pages 12-13. He then took another break. Last was Lesson 56 on FLL level 2. It dealt with articles. Needs work on when to use an.
January 8, 2016. So today is one of those grumpy cold sleepy weather days. Today Reading and Math.
W started with reading. We went over 10 more green cards: W mastered 2: fun and an. He finished the last 8 pgs and therefore finished the story "Fun at the Pond". Next up we did a worksheet for finding the place value of thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones. He did well only missed 3 out of 17.
E did some writing all on his own. Went over 6 green cards (compromise-I wanted 10). He mastered 2: of and in. Then he read 2 more pages from "Fun at the Pond" pgs. 14-15. We went over a worksheet with tens and ones. He only got a part of one wrong because he mis counted how many 10's there were.

Getting back on track.
December 28, 2015. Today W finished up the Let's Go Learn ADAM assessment for math. He did well and looks like he is on track. W also did more reading in the phrases and sentences section another 1/2 page lesson 33 AAR.
E also finished up the Let's Go Learn ADAM assessment for math. He went backwards on the first part of the test I believe this is because he originally did not want to do the test but will be reviewing what he got wrong this time that he had gotten right last time. E finished up one page on the AAR lesson 33 fluency sheet.
December 29, 2015. Today E did school with no hassel and earned candy. I was very happy and proud. He read today 1/3 of a page of the phrases and sentences section lesson 33 fluency sheet AAR. For math we went over counting backwards and we went over addition with objects. He did well. We also filled in the black with missing numbers.
Today W did the last 1/2 page of lesson 33 AAR fluency sheet, only 1 more page to go. For math we went over the symbols, < > = and not = (E was there listening and participating too). W also went over addition with objects. All in all today was a good day and well deserved candy for both.
December 30, 2015. Today W finished up the fluency sheet lesson 33 in AAR level 1. Next we reviewed greater than and less then. I did up some problems like 24, 24>33, 24<33, and 24=33 and he had to choose the correct one. W did fine although once in a while he would mix it up. Remember the open part eats the bigger number.
Today E continued to work on the fluency sheet lesson 33 he did another 2 phrases and sentences. We also reviewed greater than and less then. I did up some problems like 24, 24>33, 24<33, and 24=33 and he had to choose the correct one. I did the same reminder with E. E understands the concept but his biggest problem comes on numbers like 24 and 33 or 20 and 12. I need to get him to look at the 10's spot not the ones spot. He did good on numbers 8 and 4 and on 15 and 16.
December 31, 2015. I gave W today and tomorrow off. E still had reading to do and will do until Sunday. E read 2 more phrases and sentences and now has finished up one page. One page left to do which will be about 3 days. Lesson 33 fluency sheet AAR level 1.
January 1, 2016. Almost forgot to have E read today. It was late. I gave him the choice of either reading double tomorrow (afternoon and then night) or going ahead and reading now. He chose now. He did good.
January 2, 2016. Forgot to have him read will extend the reading by 1 day.
January 3, 2016. Today E read 2 more phrases/sentences. It was late, he was tired, he did with daddy. Not so great. To late at night.
January 4, 2016. Today E read and finished up fluency sheet lesson 33. He did at night but early evening. He did good. Daddy was more impressed this time than last time.
E also finished up the Let's Go Learn ADAM assessment for math. He went backwards on the first part of the test I believe this is because he originally did not want to do the test but will be reviewing what he got wrong this time that he had gotten right last time.
