This month in addition to the cooking the children will be learning how to tie their shoes, the home address, phone numbers, and how to use a phone.
Wednesday-8/5/15. Today both E and W, along with me, learned a new way to tie our shoes. E and W do not currently know how to tie shoes. We watched a you-tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ6PR-z34lY). E is getting the hang of it with guided help by me. W had a small problem with the first part but finally got it and practice and finally got it with mimicking me. I feel that E and W soon will not need help.
To let Friends, Family, and others know how our homeschooling is going. To keep everyone updated as to the programs we use, how we like them, and the progress that the kids are making.

Home Month-Cooking
This month we are working on cooking skills, shoe tying, and address.
Today Tuesday 8/4/15 we started a little bit of cooking. The kids with help made oatmeal and cheese grits (both from a package).
E made apple cinnamon oatmeal. First he washed his hands and then he chose a plastic measuring cup, filled it with water (about 1 cup), and microwaved it for 1 minute. Next we got out the oatmeal (2 packages). E then got a bowl out for him and his brother. E with help opened up the oatmeal. E without help poured the oatmeal in the bowl. Next he poured the water out of the cup and into the bowl. Did so slowly and stirred in between each pour. I showed him how to stir so he would get the good stuff from the bottom. He liked the oatmeal.
W made cheese grits. First he washed his hands and then he chose a cup, filled it with water (almost to the top), and microwaved it for 1 minute. Next we got out the cheese grits (1 package). W opened up the cheese grits. W poured the grits in the bowl. Next he got a spoon out for him and his brother and then he poured the water out of the cup and into the bowl. I showed him how to pour the water out of the cup so that it did not get all over the counter. He did so slowly and stirred in between each pour. I showed him how to stir so he would get the good stuff from the bottom. Next he put a little bit of sugar in the grits. Then he stirred and poured more water. He liked the grits.
I was amazed at the cooperation the boys showed to each other. Both were eager to learn and want to continue to learn to cook other things such as eggs and cakes.
