2/23/15. Started off playing Word Bingo. Each child had the same words but in a different random order. I put stripes of paper in a bag and drew a word. First round they both got bingo. Next round E won but insisted that they do a do over because they both had to win. It worked out and total rounds played was 5 with 3 being a tie and 2 being a do over. They also enjoyed the candy as a prize. Next variations will be: 1) one of them will read out the words and I will participate and 2) they will have some different words instead of all the same words. The words that were chosen were from there not mastered list in AAR. Next up was Math game. They played N16 (number sense) out of math card games from Rightstart. I used this game to help them recognize the quantities 1-10 without counting. Both did good. E said he only counted for the number 8. We played 3 levels each level increasing with difficulties. 1st level-the bead cards were set out in order and the number cards were random and they matched them up, 2nd level-the bead cards 1-5 and 6-10 were mixed up and the number cards were random and they matched them up, and 3rd level-the number cards stayed down in the order of level 2 and the bead cards were random and they matched them up. Tomorrows math game is A3 (addition up to 10). Moved onto Handwriting in Cool Wip. E and W loved it. We wrote some words working on a and g.
Third on the list was All About Spelling. I had the kids listen to the phonogram sounds for u,o,y,i, and c on the computer. Then they did segmenting 3. Segmenting the word pig for instance is p, i, g. Both did well although E caught on quicker and W needs to start doing left to right instead of right to left. Last was Sign with Signing Time episode 7 season 1.
2/24/15. Today was a slow day as I needed to help out a friend. Today we started out with Reading Eggs. W did spelling in reading eggs and E did a regular lesson in reading eggs. Tonight I will get everything ready for tomorrow.
2/25/15. Today my back hurt really bad so the only thing they did was watch about dinosaurs on you-tube. No school today.
2/26/15. We started with math game (A3 addition up to 10). Game is called Go to the Dump. W really loves this game. E likes the game. E used an abacus once in awhile which is allowed by the game. More practice with this game and they will have it down pat. Onto AAR fluency sheet. Neither child wanted to do the work. Ever since we went to blends they fight it. They need more blend practice. They did some reading of the fluency page and we will move on to the next subject here soon. Break needed by everyone after reading. Tomorrow's math game will be A6 (Five In A Row Solitaire). This game works on 10 facts. Last on the list was FLL. We did lesson 34 a review on the parts of speech and then added conjuctions. Today was dictation day. I spelled the words so the kids could write. We also worked on problem solving. If I don't like what my brother is doing what are my options and which option should I chose.
2/27/15. We started off with a math game the Next Even/Odd. Both boys responded well to this game and I realized the importance of reviewing. I chose this game as it will help when adding +1 and +2 to a number. The winner was a tie again. How do they do that? E also stated that he had 10 stacks of 3. So there is a bonus to learning multiplication. Also we went over how E had 4 even stacks and 6 odd stacks and W had 6 even stacks and 4 odd stacks. I also counting each card so they could see that 3 stacks of 10 equals 30. Next up is AAR fluency sheet. W read with no hassel today. Guess he wants that star so he can have fun at Fun Station tomorrow. E read with no hassel today also. Choices it is great. Last on the list is Signing Time. We watched and learned various signs for things in a room including the word room. Netflix season 1 esp. 8 part 1.
On a side note if anyone wants to see something specific leave a comment and let me know. Maybe I can get some printables on here for you.
To let Friends, Family, and others know how our homeschooling is going. To keep everyone updated as to the programs we use, how we like them, and the progress that the kids are making.

The Bad Week in February
Feb. 16, 2015. Everyone today is out of sorts so that makes school a little harder. We have accomplished some handwriting and All about reading. We are now on the Fluency sheets. They have added more, they have added extra for blends. So it will take longer to go through but I don't want to skip any of the extra as blends are important. So one page a day with a pick and choose option as for which words to do. W gave hassle but once E did his and received his reward W finished up his sheet. Good thing for Big Brothers and rewards. We will get through the day but this week I feel is going to be a toughy. We will make it and we will learn. We ended the day with All About Spelling. Slow progress but progress. We are still working on the last 4-5 sounds. Today we practiced them in salt. The kids seemed to respond well to that.
Feb. 17, 2015. Today I was overly tired so instead of the regular lessons we did Reading Eggs and Turtle Diary. E did lesson 36. W did map 4 quiz and got every question correct, which completed level 1 of Reading Eggs. He then went and did lesson 41. Next up was math with Turtle Diary.
Feb. 18, 2015. So today we did AAR, Math, and Handwriting. Started with W with AAR but got nothing but hassle so I switched to E. I wasn't sure how E would respond to the new way to do the fluency sheet. I had a number and he had to pick that many words for each category. He didn't want to do the work in the beginning saying it was hard but once he got into it he did just fine. We did compromise on some of the amount of work he had to do but he did the page and I was amazed. I then moved onto W. W did good. Need to work on putting the sounds together again as it seems he is falling back on bad habits. Next up for the day was handwriting. E did 3 words: one with a j, one with a k, and one with a l in it. W did the same. Need to work on W's spacing but I think it is more to do with not wanting to do the work. Last up was money math. We played "war" card game involving the penny, nickle, and dime. Then lastly we did a simple money worksheet (penny, nickle, dime). E seems like he needs work with identification but not sure if he needs the review or if he just was playing "dumb" in hopes not to have to do the work.
Feb. 19, 2015. We started the day off with Math. More about dimes, nickels, and pennies and how to make a certain amount using those coins (like 21 cents). They did good with the help of the abacus. Got to love the abacus. Next up was signing time. We learned signs for various sports. This got the kids pretending to play different sports together. Now its playtime (cooperation) before back to school. Next onto AAS. This is progressing. Today we worked on ending sounds and more segmenting. E and W have the segmenting down. W still has to think about the ending sounds but is doing much better and E is doing good with the ending sounds but I think we will still work on it just a little more.
Feb. 20, 2015. Today was Math test day. Each child took the mid-year test. Wish E would not fight so hard on doing them. He knows most of the stuff he just want try. One problem he got wrong because he miss counted not because he didn't know how to do the problem. Both kids need to work on days in a week and continue to work on days in a month. I wonder if E would do better with a multiple choice test. Just a thought for now. They did okay on the math test, however, I think I will do a week of math games.
Here looking forward to next week. :)

What a week-February
Last week we had classes and E had his first portfolio evaluation. He passed. Now onto this week.
Remember choices are a key to cooperation.
February 9, 2015. Today was an off day and my husband stayed home sick. I was determined to do school anyways. We got a late late start. E did AAR, AAS, and Math. Nothing else accomplished so will move the rest onto tomorrow which is game day. E did well with AAR and Math. He did good with AAS. We are still working on all the sounds for a few of the letters. Need to think of a fun way to do this instead of just drills. W did sign, AAR, and Math. He did well with Sign and good with AAR. He put up a fuss with Math. I think he wanted more time with Daddy; however daddy wasn't feeling great. So we have stopped school for the day and will finish it on day 2 (game day). Something fun is tomorrow night is Tiger Rock night. This will be there 2nd time attending.
February 10, 2015. Today we finished up AAS for W and Sign for E. When I'm not around and looking E does some of the signs. Anything for Minecraft Videos I guess. We also did Handwriting and Art. Handwriting E chose to write 1 sentence for Nonni and made something. W chose 1 sentence and made several things. We will let them dry, take pictures, and send the Valentine "Cards" to Nonni.
February 11, 2015. First up today was AAR picked by the kids. We did flashcard new words learned. To make it fun if they could sound it out before me they can "beat me up". They did. The rule breaker was, was included. We learned this and they "beat me up". It was a fun way to turn a boring thing into something fun. Just need a different fun way instead of "beat me up". Next up was Math (RightStart Level B 1st edition). While I worked with one child the other child was set up with Reading Eggs. We did the first part of three parts. Today was more work/games on the minutes of a clock..right now we are working on increments of 5min. We ended the day with Handwriting. W and E did a word with e, a word with f, a word with g, a word with h. W did good with his words no hassels etc. Still have a few letters to work on. E gave hassle and compromises and said his hand would hurt if he did that much, in the end E did the work. I wish I could get him to write with his left hand instead of his right hand. His previous school messed that one up big. All in all a good day.
February 12, 2015. We started with AAR. Reading blends flip cards and reading 2 words on socks. I wish I could get my children to just do the work without all the hassle, compromises, and excuses. Once they get into it they do good and kind of even enjoy themselves. E wants to know why he has to read. Not sure if my response was good or not but I said so you can grow to be intellegent and not have to rely on others to tell you all information. E and W did the work and did good with it. W still needs work on final blends and E needs work on CH sounds. So I decided to stop school and teach respect and responsibility instead. We worked on chores while listening to music. Deciding and chooses and consequences. After everyone chilled I gave them a minecraft video break. Then we did math. Same senerio as yesterday. One was doing reading eggs while the other was with me doing day 2 of 3 with clocks. W was up first. He has a good memory. He just needs to work on putting the hour and time together. E needs more work on matching up the time with an analog clock without the minutes on the analog clock. Not sure if that makes since but he will get it. We modified the rules a little and he did good. With more practice he will get it. Schools out for the day now.
February 13, 2015. Today is the last day of school for the week. This week it doesn't seem like we have been accomplishing much but we have been doing the "important" subjects at least. Today we finished day 3 of 3 for math. Both kids still need work on hours with minutes and where the minutes fall on the clock. Again while one was doing math the other was on Reading Eggs. W is ahead on Reading Eggs because he wanted to unlock some of the free play so he did some extra work on that. Next thing we did today was First Language Lessons. We worked on Interjections with a brief review of adjectives. This lesson also called for Dictation. Dictation is fairly new for the kids so we discuss it first and I repeat the sentence as they write it. I also spell the words for them as spelling is still in its infancy. They did good. I hope to get one more thing accomplished tonight and that is a little bit of handwriting.

Sorry for not keeping up
The month of January has been a busy month with birthdays, school, and family stuff going on. School has been hard to get back into but we made it. I have reverted back to the old ways of letting the children chose the order that they want to do the subjects in. It relieves a lot of hassle. We still have good days and bad days. I will do my best to keep everyone updated starting next week.
